Thanks for the explanation.
I’d heard about this “Stav” during a long time. I was sure that it’s a fake and all that story that they told (like History graduate and mevieval fencing practioner I think that I could tell when something is real or not about this kind of things :P), but I didn’t have any proof about it, only that it seems totally false to me. With this I could tell the people I know that this is a fake with a proper explanation. ^_^

Check out http://www.Whitehartforge.com for a nice hand forged seax at a fair price. I ordered one with a 12″ blade and yew wood handle. I’m looking forward to it coming soon. He also does hand forged spear heads and danish and frankish style axes.

A mix of weapons skills both ancient and modern is ideal. A long sword in not easy to carry or use in the modern world. However, a traditional sax knife, scotthish dirk, or fighting bowie knife is very useful in the modern world.

Handguns and shotguns are most useful in home and personal defence. And the rifle for hunting and long range combat skills in useful too. What do you all feel on these matters?

The warrior tradition is at the very heart of our anglo-saxon tradition. As a past member of the now dead Fianna Organization. We used to train with the ancient weapons of the celtic and germanic peoples. I also think in todays world it is good to have basic skills in the use of firearms and blades for the defence of our homes and families.

On some neopagan fourms, I know firearms and weapons are an unpopular subject. However, I feel our ancestors were very clear on the freemans rights to own and bear weapons. One need not be a great hero, warrior, or solider to learn the basic and safe use of weapon both modern and ancient.

I just ordered a traditional seax from White Hart Forge. His prices are not bad for a hand forged blade $125-$150 plus shipping. The one I have coming has a 12″ blade and a yew wood handle. He does hand forged spear heads and frankish style axes too for reasonable prices. Check out White Hart Forge on the net for details.
