The nýdgild is a yearly recurring membership fee, which is assessed to each full member of the Fellowship (gesith) and also to associate members who are granted membership via the internet. This fee is currently set by abanning of the Witangemot at $20.00 per year, to be paid on or prior to the geféres anniversary date.
The following geféras are exempt from the nýdgild, and need not pay it nor have it paid on their behalf:
- Those provisional members who are being fostered within a Híred and who are over the age of 18 are exempt for one year, beginning on the day they are granted fosterage. These híredmenn must be documented, and their status reported to the Witan yearly.
- Those minor children and dependents of híredmenn and gesiþas who are under the protection of a híred are exempt until their eighteenth birthday, at which time they must accept the rank of híredman or híredwíf, or else leave the fellowship. They shall continue to be exempt from paying nýdgild for one year, at the end of which time they must then assume this duty, regardless of whether they are worthed as gesiþas or not.
