Organization

The Fellowship is governed at the International level by a board of governors consisting of senior GFS officers and clergy. This body is known as the Witangemót, and is modeled after the historical ruling council of pagan England. Local congregations are largely free to handle their own affairs in the manner they see fit, so long as their methods do not conflict with GFS Sidu or “customs”.

The Witangemót is responsible for settling religious matters within the GFS at large, as well as day to day governance of the worldwide apparatus.  Purely administrative matters are often handled by the executive committee, which is called the Duguþ. Matters of religious doctrine may be heard by the entire Witangemót. Many issues however, are suitable to placed before the entire membership  of the Fellowship for discussion prior to being acted upon by the Witangemót. In such cases, a general assembly or folkmoot is held, so that all voting members of the fellowship may give their input. The sub-pages under this section provide more detailed information on the governing bodies of the GFS, their constitution, and powers.
